and cycling trail, which is connected to an educational
trail across the Dářko national nature reserve and
peat bog or to the red hiking trail across the Žďárské
vrchy hills to Tisůvka, Žákova hora, Devět skal,
Buchtův kopec, Čtyři palice etc. The fittest hikers
will be challenged by the 14 “eight-hundred-metre-peaks“
of the Žďárské vrchy as well as they would
face the 14 “eight-thousand-metre-peaks“ in the
Himalaya…

hiking, cycling and biking maps and descriptions
of the most interesting places of the vicinity,
including the connectedness to the Sázava
cycling trail Praha Davle – Žďár nad Sázavou

The most interesting sight of historical interest
in vicinity is the Pilgrimage
church of St. John of Nepomuk at Zelená
hora, built by the famous baroque architect Jan
Blažej Santini, which has been entered on the UNESCO’s
World Heritage List.
You can make trips to the Pernštejn
castle with a remarkable history or
to the folk architecture open air museum at Veselý
kopec, or possibly to nearby Zvole,
where you can find a Western town - Šiklův
mlýn. Fishing
is possible in the Nový pond or Pilská reservoir.
Žďár nad Sázavou offers the possibility
of horse riding or carriage rides, tennis, bowling,
tunnel firing range, indoor swimming pool and winter
stadium, castle and the Kinských chapel.
You can also visit historical towns entered on the
UNESCO’s World Heritage List – Litomyšl,
Třebíč, Telč or the royal dowry town of
Polička, Bohuslav Martinů’s birthplace (placed at
the local church’s tower).
Further landmarks at hand include Žižkovo pole at
Přibyslav or Havlíčkova Borová.
